JEE Main is applicable for admission to NITs, IIITs and CFTIs participating through Central Seat Allocation Board subject to the condition that the candidate should have secured at least 75% marks in the 12th class examination, or be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th class examination conducted by the respective Boards in 2017 or 2018; or those who are appearing in their Class 12th Exam or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2019. For SC/ST candidates the qualifying marks would be 65% in the 12th class examination. JEE (Main) will also be an eligibility test for the JEE (Advanced), which the candidate has to take if he/she is aspiring for admission to the undergraduate programs offered by the IITs.
Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) MAIN will be conducted by the NTA from 2019 onwards. This Examination was being conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) till 2018. The number of attempts which a candidate can avail at JEE (Main) shall be limited to 03 (three).

All the candidates must fulfil following criteria to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2019:
* Candidates should be among the top 2,24,000 in JEE (Main) 2019.
* Candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 1994.
* A candidate can attempt JEE (Advanced) a maximum of two times in consecutive years.
* A candidate should have appeared for the Class XII (or equivalent) examination for the first time in either 2018 or 2019.
Examination will be conducted in fully computer based test mode. The exam consists of two papers, Paper 1 and Paper 2, each of three hours' duration, and will be held in two sessions. Both the papers are compulsory.
